God is perfect and holy. Adam willfully sinned against God and that sin separated man from God. All from Adam’s line have a sin nature which the flesh has no ability to undo. Christ came into the world to save for Himself a chosen people, the elect. God had a plan from before the foundation of the world to show his grace to His people. Jesus came born of a virgin. He was truly God in the flesh, Immanuel, God with us. He retained his divinity while taking on humanity.
He came from heaven and walked on the dirt of the earth he spoke into existence. He came and related with us in every way except without sin. This Messiah, our Savior, was the “new and better Adam.” He lived perfectly and offered his perfect life as a substitutionary sacrifice in our place. He took on Himself our sins and thereby clothed us with His righteousness. He is our Great High Priest and our conquering King. In Christ, we are counted righteous, by grace through faith. Jesus atoned for the sins of all who will repent and believe, and all who had truly believed on the one true God prior to His coming, according to His incredible grace.
On the third day Christ was raised from the dead. He rose just as He said He would. This victory over death itself confirmed that Jesus was the Messiah. All Jesus’ words of life, the miracles, the perfect responses to deceptive questions, the way He spoke with authority, all of His teaching, and His sinlessness, were affirmed in His resurrection. What a gracious and powerful God we serve. Jesus is the fulfillment of every promise made to Adam and to Abraham, the One the prophets foretold.
Jesus then entrusted the Spirit-led ministry of reconciliation to his disciples and declared that they must preach to the nations, baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Spirit, and teach obedience to all He had commanded them. And Jesus said all power was His and that He would be with them always.
Church, let us live on mission and see what the Lord will work!
