The Communist position viewed religion as “the opiate of the masses.” The religious were counted as foolish and dangerous, a threat. The post-modern, socialistic push has narrowed the scope: “Christianity is the disease of the minority.” Christianity is one that deters the movement of this New Religion, and its hallucinogenic effects.
{{The Bible-believing Christian has been labeled enemy #1.}}
This post-modern movement, which has been growing for longer than most realize, has adopted mystical and meditative practices from the East—though most deny Deity whatsoever—while also pronouncing Islam as acceptable, as primarily the cultural and traditional identity of the Arab (and beyond) world. We certainly cannot deny someone their identity…
But what of Christianity?
Where a pass has been issued to all others on various grounds (despite practices that defy the post-modern religious perspective) it has been withheld from those obstinate Christians. Yahweh-defying contradictions are the commodity of our day, the tickling of the ears of our society.
Why is this?
Christians claim to have a handle on True-Truth, which has an impact on their thoughts, beliefs, speech, and all of life—their consciences are bound in a manner that ultimately *must* opposes the notion of ‘loose and flexible truth’—this is the very wind in the sails of Modern Man and his cry for ‘ultimate freedom.’
But the Christian says freedom requires form, structure. The Christian shows that true freedom is found in Christ, and there are right and reasonable bounds in this life. The Christian declares what the Bible teaches, and God in no way teaches Truth to be flexible or loose. The Christian declares there is but one Way to the Father. The world says give me what I want; preference and opinion rule the minds of men—according to the prince of the power of the air. The Christian declares that man acting on whatever man desires will ultimately lead only to chaos, where even our communication will collapse, as surely as sin leads to death.
We have adopted an uncommon perspective, as surely as Christ in His death and resurrection has adopted us.
No, Christianity is not bound to a particular form of politics or government. Christianity has flourished under persecution and been nurtured or waned in places with great freedom, as go the seasons. But the Christian must speak of Ultimate Truth in a world where the masses are pushing for an Ultimate Freedom that will lead to their Ultimate Demise; not only death to this life, but also in the age to come.
True Christian people cannot deny the Truth. We cannot neglect Christ our Savior-Lord. We cannot turn a blind eye to ongoing error, nor can we dismiss what is right in the deepest sense. We cannot suppress the Holy Spirit. We cannot denounce the Gospel. And certainly, in every age, season, location, under every varied political and governmental rule, the Gospel of our salvation, which we preach most boldly through an all-encompassing Christian life, will be foolishness to those who are perishing. The wisdom of God is not found in the wisest of the world who are yet His enemies. They are still caught in foolishness.
We carry on. We speak what is true. We live in a manner that accords with Christ and His Word, in step with the Spirit, in obedience to the Father. What we preach will remain unpopular, yet some will be saved. Whenever we face persecution we know it is not wasted. He will get His glory. He is worthy of our all. Whenever we die, or are killed, we know we will be face to face with Jesus in the greater Promised Land.
So, by faith we carry on. We carry on in love for the brethren and love for the lost, so much so that we will proclaim Truth boldly in this age where we have been declared not only the unpopular but the detestable, the unworthy few.
We know in Truth that we are indeed unworthy. But not in the sense the world deems us so. We are unworthy in ourselves, yet Christ has chosen to redeem us. He alone is our boast. We are poor, yet we are made rich in Christ. We are wicked sinners, yet found righteous. We are vile in ourselves, yet children of the Most High in light of the cross.
And we trust now, as always, our God is working in and through all things.
come.
what.
may.
