You likely just finished up your lunch break. It’s a typical Wednesday; the week is wearing on you. Take a few moments of your afternoon and soak up these images.

Then do something with it.

This gallery is for everyone who supported our time in Liberia. If you prayed for our team, if you donated, if you offered words of encouragement before our departure, or anything else: THANK YOU. You made these pictures possible.

This gallery is also for anyone who casually saw (through social media) this trip taking place, those who were neutral on the idea, those who were curious, those who discouraged it, those who have no idea who I am and a friend just shared this “random” post, and those who don’t see the point of going to share the good news of Jesus. These pictures were made possible for you, that you might see the goodness of God, and experience the love of Jesus.

_OR_2925 — Joe, my brother in Christ and sponsor child. We have been writing back and forth for several years now. It was nice to give him a hug.

_OR_2991 — Happiness looks like a broken chair, a broken car, bare-feet, a spray bottle as a toy, and friends everywhere.

_OR_3053 — Removing the leaky roof, making room for the replacement. The good pieces of old tin were given to our neighbors to repair their roof; it had been completely torn off during a mild storm.

_OR_3056 — Can you have this much fun with a broom?

_OR_3095 — Let’s be friends. The younger brother had never seen a person with white skin. His older siblings were showing him I was just like them. He was no longer afraid.

_OR_3118 — Hours of fun with a single nerf football.

_OR_3349 — “Soccer” with an empty plastic container.

_OR_3373 — Laughter. Brought to you by technology. Reliving my Liberian motorbike ride, and the near car accidents caused by onlookers (other drivers)!

_OR_3428 — Love in action. Hope, hand-delivered.

_OR_3742 — Thankful for slippers (flipflops), blankets, and new clothing…but mostly, for love.

_OR_3762 — Men I respect greatly. Roof replacement underway. No 2x4s, only long branches. No drills, only hammers. The result: a dry place for many to sleep at night.

_OR_3776 — Taking the sports car (halfway scrapped) for a lap.

_OR_3801 — Football is brutal. Expect nothing less.

_OR_3848 — Classrooms are block walls with chalkboards. Not much more. People are learning, as you can tell from the board. Teachers and supplies are always needed.

_OR_3861 — Coconut trimming. School uniforms. Community.

_OR_3966 — Writing letters to sponsors, in response to photos and messages received. One of the younger children told me his favorite Bible verse was “green,” so we went with it. He also said that when he grows up, he wants “to drive.”

_OR_4095 — His grin legitimately goes from ear to ear.

_OR_4133 — Braid life. Late nights on the porch. Smiles, laughter, music, bug spraying, storytelling, culture sharing, candy trying, and more.

_OR_4145 — A new roof, complete. Scaffolding, partially removed.

_OR_4188 — Joanna and Josh with Theo-Theo, one of the children they sponsor.

_OR_4224 — Silly faces. Fun with a rusted bicycle rim, spokes removed. Sisters.

_OR_4249 — Hiding, in a not very good hiding spot.

_OR_4623 — The joy of knowing you are loved.

_OR_4785 — The kitchen at the children’s home. And a few loving caretakers.

_OR_4526 — Leaving. My Bible stayed with Joe.

Every pair of slippers and blanket handed out, every tube of toothpaste and toothbrush given for the children, every smile, every story shared, had one purpose: to convey the love of Christ. My prayer is that these images will point you towards Jesus.
