To those that know a little geometry: let me explain salvation and relationship with Jesus using this somewhat silly, but amazingly true, comparison I was introduced to.
Knowing Jesus is not defined as a [point] in space. It is not a one time experience of who He is, or a one time feeling of conviction, followed by the exact same lifestyle as before that experience.
Salvation and relationship look more like a [ray]. There is that [point] where you come to know Christ, and the Amazing Grace He has provided to those that cry out to Him. You see, you know you have experienced Jesus, when your everything is changed.
Literally, your EVERYTHING. This is represented by the [infinite, never-ending line] coming from that [point] where you met the Savior, fell flat on the ground before Him, giving your life, and asking His Spirit to come live in your stead. You have direction. Your heart has a path to follow. That [line] is a series of those [points]. That’s what relationship with Christ looks like.
It’s a promise that this change comes to those that call on Him and believe in their hearts that He is Savior.
There’s a lifestyle that looks like Jesus, and anything else is apart from Him. He calls us to be fishers of men. He calls us disciples. He calls us children. Know that the love, compassion, and grace shown on that cross are fresh and new daily. He loves you so much, He gave Himself to pay in your place. He brings us to new life.
The reward of His suffering is your heart, and my heart; the heart of each who believes, and repents, and throws down fish nets to become fishers of men. We are His reward. How marvelous a thought!
And He brings us into His family. He calls us His children. Live in that. If you ever want to talk more, contact me!
